It's an exciting race to the finish line for The Stock Market Game. One of our four teams is at 3rd place as we go into the final days of the competition. There is less than $300 separating them from 2nd place (which is a high school team). They are competing again 101 teams in Fulton County, The students will know the final standings next Tuesday! Whew, this is exciting!
The Epidemic unit is in full swing. This week the students compared/contrasted viruses and bacteria and 1) expressed whether they would rather be a bacteria or a virus and why or 2) chronicled their life as if they were a virus or a bacteria. Check out three good examples below:
This week, the students randomly were assigned a family. We have quite a variety - everything from an engaged woman to a widowed man with four boys. The students drew portraits of their new family. Check them out below.
After everyone shared what their dream job would be, they randomly received jobs, along with the amount of their monthly salary. Ask your child what job they have (and what jobs they did not get). Only one student has the same job as she wants to do when she grows up. Abha wants to be an OB-GYN and she is the TAG Town doctor! I then gave all of the students their first paycheck. They did NOT like the fact that the check was not for the same amount as their salary. The discussion that followed about taxes and deductions was very interesting, to say the least.
